Oklahoma Knuckhead – Lo-Fi Country
You ever wonder what it’s like to be a knucklehead? You know, one of those guys that just doesn’t seem to “get it” I have been one of such guys my whole life…And proud of it.
Growing up in dusty Oklahoma – and having zero issues with it- is probably what makes me this way… You see… I LOVE Oklahoma. Living on Tulsa time and being a T-Town teaser and all that stuff…
I remember going to High School in the early 80′s. Most of the musical cats at the school were hair metal guys… As you can probably guess I was not part of their camp… Not that I didn’t wanna be… I mean those dudes could play well…But I was more into British Invasion music and punk rock… etc… So I doubt I would have got the gig anyways…
I have had this chord progression laying around since1991 or something… I was just sitting around playing chords and put together a winding pattern that repeats 4 times… I’d call it 12-bar but I don’t think it is… I have never counted how many bars it is actually. But a 12-bar blues thing that I had been studying is what gave me the idea.
It’s a bit of country song… The lyrics have been changed about 1000 times with different renditions of the song. I think it has one of my strongest lines. For what it’s worth…..
No more daily Big Mac Supper Club… Or food stamp T-Bone steaks for fun……
Yes folks…. I love Mcdonalds and Steak….
The song was recorded on my Tascam Digital 8 track recorder… Most of the parts were thrown together in a couple of takes. It’s the typical Lo-Fi even tho it is a digital recording… I was just listening to it for the first time in quite awhile.. It gets off time and stuff…. But that’s the magic of being a dude in a spare room recording music… Just like when I was a kid with a couple of taper recorders… Dang I wish I still had some of those tapes… I’d love to hear THAT!
Check out the song will ya?
I am a Knucklehead. (It’s MP3)
