Oklahoma Underground Music

I said earlier that American Idol contestant, Lauren Alaina, is a very unspectacular singer.  Well, she is, but she did a good job last Wednesday night on a country song called “Born to Fly.”  As for Haley Reinhart, the only other female contestant left, she served up Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”, and her growls and power were very agreeable.  Haley tends to shout some of what she sings–instead of just singing it–but she managed to avoid that this time. 

Katy Perry performed on AI‘s results show, and her singing was neither good nor bad; it was just singing, period.  I’ve seen her perform on other TV shows, and she was mediocre.  Sure, she sounds fine on her recordings but that’s because of studio trickery (or whatever I should call it).  I am prepared to assert that Lauren and Haley are BETTER SINGERS than Perry. 

“ET” and Kanye West, indeed!  (Don’t ask–that’s what we got in Perry’s routine.)
